Shopatron and Dealer Expo Sponsor Powersports eCommerce Industry Panel
Panel discussion during the Dealer Expo show will focus on eCommerce opportunities in the powersports market
San Luis Obispo, CA January 19, 2010 — Shopatron and Dealer Expo® will host a panel discussion entitled “eCommerce in the Powersports Industry” at the Dealer Expo® show in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 13, 2010. The panel will consist of representatives from major powersports OEMs, retail dealers and industry experts, including executives from Suzuki, Motion Pro, Big Dog Motorcycles, LeoVince and World of Powersports.
The panel structure will facilitate a thorough and lively conversation on the opportunities and issues resulting from the growth of eCommerce in powersports. Discussion points will include:
- What is eCommerce and where does it occur?
- How is the Web affecting the powersports industry?
- How big is eCommerce and how fast is it growing?
- How do brands (OEMs) and dealers participate in online sales and how can they work together?
The panel will be moderated by Eric Anderson, President and Owner at Partners in Powersports, who has spent over 30 years in the powersports industry. The panel will also include Ed Stevens, CEO and Founder of Shopatron. Shopatron manages eCommerce stores and websites for over 30 companies in the powersports industry. Mr. Stevens will provide an overview of eCommerce statistics for the industry and additional perspective from other industries.
According to Mr. Stevens, there has been significant growth in eCommerce in the powersports industry this past year. Well over 30,000 customers placed online orders with Shopatron powersports brands in 2009. Additionally, the number of dealers servicing those orders doubled in 2009, with over 600 retailers now fulfilling orders for brands such as: Ducati, Scott, Suzuki, Evinrude/Johnson, Ski-Doo, Yuasa Battery, Big Dog Motorcycle, Motion Pro, and LeoVince.
The 60-90 minute discussion will include an open format in which the audience is encouraged to pose questions to the panel members. Organizers invite retailers, manufacturers, distributors, or anyone interested in the powersports industry to attend this session scheduled for 3:30PM CT in Room 207 of the Indianapolis Convention Center.
